Show Review – Friday 24th June

Thank you to everyone who came last Friday. Those who couldn’t make it missed a treat, and those who did will be talking about it for some time to come.
Although we started late, partly due to technical issues and partly because our MC got stuck in traffic, our wonderful punters understood and waited patiently for one of our best shows so far.
Opening was the brilliant Alasdair Beckett-King, who had us in hysterics from start to finish, comparing himself to numerous beings including a Siren and a Bond villain, never once mentioning that he could have posed for a painting of Jesus or John the Baptist.
The sassy, no-holds-barred Nicole Harris followed, whose detailed descriptions of her nether regions simultaneously scandalised and terrified the audience, with one man in the front row looking as if he wanted to leave but was physically unable to move. (Perhaps Nicole is a secret Siren, or to be classically correct, a North London Medusa the Gorgon?)
The legend that is Rich Hall then blew us all away with a superb set, starting with some coruscating observations on his homeland, lamenting at one point that Trump losing the election had robbed him of 25 minutes of material. After that he brought out his guitar and entertained us with some hilarious songs, one of which listed numerous towns and villages not far from Ickenham, proving he had ‘done his research’.
MC Meryl O’Rourke held everything together and also had the room rocking with laughter.
It was lovely to see so many of you there enjoying the show and I hope even more will turn up to the next one which is in less than two weeks time – Friday 8th July. Our headliner will be the amazing Laura Lexx, who as well as appearing on Live At the Apollo in her comedic capacity, has just had a book ‘Pivot’ published, which is getting excellent reviews.
Supporting her will be Gareth Richards and Ali Woods. Further details and ticket bookings can be found elsewhere on the website.
Keep supporting live comedy – we wouldn’t be able to do it without you!
